Saanich fields, from Wallace Drive

The farmlands of the Saanich Peninsula north of Victoria beckon me, for I grew up in the countryside. In September the kids are back at school, the tourists have gone home and the farmers harvest the fields. I particularly love the golden fields of straw, which glow in the warm sunshine. I set up my easel by the side of the road and, to the sound of a tractor working in a faraway field, painted my autumn idyll on Wallace Drive.
