Joffre Lake

On a trip to the Interior of British Columbia we went past Whistler and Pemberton and made our first stop on the second day at Joffre Lake where I painted this on location. It was a misty day but the glacial turquoise of the lake, shading to brilliant green at the shoreline, captivated me. As I worked on the slim verticals of the trees and their reflections the glacier hanging in the mountain valley beyond played hide-and-seek. Many tourists came and went and missed the vista which revealed itself to me over a couple of hours.
